SDMHA is dedicated to enhancing the physical, psychological, and social well-being of people with diverse abilities, backgrounds, and interests. The Association strongly upholds the belief that true realization of these values is only possible in sport environments that are both safe and inclusive. It is our commitment that participants in SDMHA's programs can anticipate a safe, accessible, and inclusive environment, completely free from any form of maltreatment, bullying, or harassment.
SDMHA has adopted a three step approach to education of maltreatment, bullying, and harassment:
1. SDMHA will provide current and relevant educational materials and resources on this page
2. Parents/Guardians and their player(s), working together, read through/watch the following resources and complete the quiz:
BC Hockey Maltreatment, bullying and harassment protection and prevention policy (PDF)
Flag Tool for Sport - PlaySafeBC (viasport.ca) (5 min video)
SDMHA Maltreatment, Harassment and Bullying Quiz (25 questions)
3. SDMHA bench staff will follow-up with their team using the materials below
